BJP IT chief Amit Malviya criticised the Congress over Aiyar’s remarks. He wrote on Twitter, “Mani Shankar Aiyar, while speaking at the FCC during the launch of the book Nehru’s First Recruits, called the Chinese invasion of 1962 ‘alleged’. This is a blatant attempt at ‘revisionism’.

Iyer apologized, Congress gave clarification
After the controversy escalated, Iyer apologized. On the other hand, Congress has also distanced itself from this statement. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that Iyer later apologized for mistakenly using the word alleged attack and the party dissociates itself from it. Ramesh said, his (Iyer’s) age should be kept in mind. Congress dissociates itself from his original statement. Not only this, he also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of giving a clean chit to China for its intrusion in May 2020.
